Rapper Cardi B arrested
Rapper Cardi B arrested over nightclub altercation

Rapper Cardi B has officially been arrested and charged after turning herself in to police over an alleged attack on two strip club bartenders.

Cardi, real name Belcalis Almanzar, was allegedly involved in an altercation at Angels Strip Club in New York City in August (18).

The bartenders, sisters Jade and Baddie Gi, claim the Bodak Yellow hitmaker has had issues with them in the past, because she believes Jade once had sex with her husband, Migos rapper Offset.

Police officials investigating the case wanted to speak with Cardi in connection to the alleged altercation and, according to reports, she and eight members of her entourage surrendered to authorities in Queens on Monday (01Oct18). The 25-year-old was shielded from cameras by umbrellas and did not talk as she entered the precinct. However, she was photographed after she was released.

Pop legends Rod Stewart and Cher
Pop legends Rod Stewart and Cher duke it out for Number 1 album

There's room for legends only at the top of the Official Albums Chart Update, as pop veterans Rod Stewart and Cher square up to claim this week's Number 1.

Rod, who first topped the album chart back in October 1971, leads with Blood Red Roses, his 30th studio album. Currently over 11,000 combined sales in front, should Rod top the chart this Friday, it will be his ninth Number 1 – he was the last at the summit in 2013.

In second place, Cher is strutting her stuff with Dancing Queen, her covers album of ABBA classics. If Cher stays Top 3, it'll be her highest peak since she spent seven weeks at Number 1 with her Greatest Hits in 1992.

Aside from Rod and Cher at the top, there are 15 further albums in with a chance of a Top 40 placing this Friday. Lil Wayne is on track for his highest UK chart peak with Tha Carter V, starting at 5, and Nile Rodgers & Chic could be back in the Top 10 for the first time since 1979 – It's About Time is in at 6.

Lana Del Rey labels Kanye West's Donald Trump
Lana Del Rey labels Kanye West's Donald Trump support 'a loss for the culture'

Lana Del Rey has told Kanye West his support of controversial U.S. President Donald Trump "is a loss for the culture".

The rapper has never made a secret of his backing of the former reality show host, but caused controversy once again on Saturday (29Sep18) with a pro-Trump rant on TV show Saturday Night Live.

In the tirade, which wasn't aired, Kanye insisted Trump isn't racist and voiced his support for the POTUS as he sported a "Make America Great Again" baseball cap.

The father-of-three also shared a selfie of him wearing the headgear on Instagram, and Video Games singer Lana, who performed at Kanye and Kim Kardashian's wedding in 2014, responded by taking aim at him.

"Trump becoming our president was a loss for the country but your support of him is a loss for the culture," she wrote. "I can only assume you relate to his personality on some level. Delusions of Grandeur, extreme issues with narcissism - none of which would be a talking point if we weren't speaking about the man leading our country.

Lily Allen hits back
Lily Allen hits back after Richard Ashcroft says musicians shouldn't be political

The former The Verve frontman vented his disapproval of singers who take on bigger issues in a recent interview.

He stated that such artists should "stop making speeches" and "go back and entertain the world".

But as she spoke to In The Bathroom, Lily blasted Richard, insisting that he only said what he did because he's in a position to do so.

"I was watching an interview with Richard Ashcroft the other day when he was talking about wishing musicians would just shut up and get on with what they're meant to do, which is music and not get involved with like social issues, social commentary and politics, because it's got nothing to do with it," the Smile singer mused. "And it's just like, that's all very well for you to say Richard Ashcroft, you're a middle-aged really successful white person, who won't have to have gone through a lot of the things I or indeed many other girls would have to have gone through.

Doctor Dolittle delayed until 2020
Robert Downey Jr's Doctor Dolittle Movie Delayed to January 2020

The film will once again focus around a physician who discovers that he is able to talk to a variety of animals.

The first incantation of Doctor Dolittle came in 1920 from Hugh Lofting's The Story of Doctor Dolittle. Lofting wrote a total of 13 Doctor Dolittle books prior to his death in 1947.

There have been a number of adaptations of the Doctor Dolittle stories over the years, but the most recognized and arguably the most popular comes from Eddie Murphy's version of the character in the '90s. The film spawned four less than thrilling sequels before the new Doctor Dolittle movie was announced, starring Downey. The film was previously slated for a May 2019 before being moved up to April 2019, but the release date has once again changed.

The Wrap reports Downey's The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle has been delayed by eight months. With this delay, the film is set to be released on January 17, 2020. Universal has apparently changed the release date once again in order to give the film a better chance overseas in countries like China, as well as in the hope of attracting audiences after the holidays.

Bad Boys 3 in 2019?
Bad Boys 3 May Begin Production In Early 2019

Progress on Bad Boys for Life seems to be moving forward and the film could start filming in early 2019.

It has been 15 years since the last Bad Boys movie came out, which centered around two Miami detectives played by Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. Bad Boys 3 has seemingly been on the way since 2009, but somewhere along the way, the film got trapped in development hell.

While both of the first two buddy cop movies were seen as a financial success, only the first film did well with critics. The second one received mostly negative reviews, which has no doubt played a hand in the delay of the third movie. Over the years, the project has gone through several writers, including Safe House's David Guggenheim, Joe Carnahan (who was also in talks to direct), and, most recently, Chris Bremner.

This year seemed to have been a good year for the franchise since a Bad Boys spinoff TV series was originally ordered by NBC (but later canceled during production), and because Sony gave Bad Boys for Life a 2020 release date. Now, the project seems to be continuing to make progress with news about a possible filming start date.

Steven Spielberg's West Side Story
Steven Spielberg's West Side Story Casts Baby Driver's Ansel Elgort

Ansel Elgort has nabbed the leading role in a very different sort of musical project.

Spielberg's film - West Side Story - will be both a fresh movie adaptation of the classic 1957 stage musical and a loose remake of Robert Wise's 1961 big screen adaptation, itself the winner of 10 Academy Awards (including Best Picture).

While Spielberg has talked about wanting to remake West Side Story since 2014, it wasn't until earlier this year that it became clear just how serious the legendary director really is about doing just that. With Indiana Jones 5 now delayed until 2021 and no other projects ready to go at the moment, Spielberg has spent much of the past nine months sending out open casting calls in an effort to find young actors to play the musical's white and Puerto Rican leads. He's clearly making progress too, having now cast one of the five main leads for what will be his first full-blown movie musical.

THR is reporting that Elgort will star in Spielberg's West Side Story as Tony, the co-founder and former member of a white gang who call themselves the Jets and are based in the West Side's Lincoln Square neighborhood. In the 1950s-set musical's Romeo and Juliet-inspired story, Tony falls in love with Maria, the younger sister of Bernardo, the leader of a Puerto Rican gang known as the Sharks... and the Jets' rivals in the West Side. Richard Beymer earned a Golden Globe nod for portraying Tony in the 1961 film.
